5.2 Limitations and Further Study
There is no denying that something unsatisfying still exists in this paper, and it is likely to leave much room to be desired. This paper is produced only in the hope that it will be of some help to a deeper and more extensive understanding of Austen's works within the framework of SAT and the theory of SAT can have a wider use not only in drama and poetry but also in literary works. In any way,the writer has been cherishing two things:one is academic exchange;the other is to make clear the unknown. Therefore, the writer hereby has presented some personal insight, expecting that more valuable treasures may be introduced.
Similarly,we may extend our experience to other ironic novels. That is to say,all ironic fictions can be expounded in the framework of SAT.A shortage of this paper is that only speech act theory is employed and all the talks are confined within the framework of SAT.The reason that only SAT is adopted lies mainly in the limited pages and a personal consideration. But still it should be noted that pragmatics covers more than one theory, and different pragmatic theories boast of different advantages. Each of them may present a unique profile in criticizing specific literary works. Therefore, only by involving diverse theories,an extensive and systematic study on a specific literary work can be achieved.
