Process for Admission and Discharge

Patients may be from emergency medical，ICU，general wards.The HDU consultant（monthly rota）or consultant on duty admits the patient to HDU.Infectious patients（e.g.the patients of Meningitis and AFB+，TB patients should avoid walking on verandah to prevent the spread of infection）.

After 72 hours at most.the HDU consultant reviews the patient of HDU care for discharge（written statement）.

Abbreviations

HD（hemodialysis）：血液透析

PD（peritoneal dialysis）：腹膜透析

HNDC（hyperosmolar non-ketotic diabetic coma）：高渗性非酮症糖尿病昏迷

DKA（diabetic ketoacidosis）：糖尿病酮症酸中毒

GCS（Glasgow coma scale）：格拉斯哥昏迷量表(https://www.daowen.com)

GBS（group B streptococcus）：B型链球菌

COPD（chronic obstructive pulmonary disease）：慢性阻碍性肺病

AFB（acid-fast bacillus）：抗酸杆菌

TB（tuberculosis）：肺结核

ICU（intensive care unit）：重症加强护理病房

HDU（high dependency unit）：高依赖病房
