7.2　Theoretical Implications

The research added an intercultural dimension to the investigation of genre knowledge.Although I only examined one genre,the types of knowledge identified are ubiquitous in other academic genres for the purpose of intercultural communication.Therefore,the framework of genre knowledge for intercultural communication established in the present study can be of use in future investigation of other genres.

The examination of individual differences in genre practices reveals noticeable variation within the three local disciplinary communities.It highlights the importance of taking individual variation into account in genre-based pedagogies.The findings lead to a reassessment of community genre practices,which has in the past often been idealized as monolithic and homogenous.
