Hengshui,our lovely hometown,is located in the southeast of Hebei Province,between 37°03′ NL and 38°23′ NL and 115°10′ SL to 116°34′ SL.It covers a total area of 8,815 square kilometers.
Hengshui is adjacent to the capital Beijing and Tianjin,an important commercial port,on the north; Xingtai and Handan,two coal and steel bases on the south; Shijiazhuang,the capital of Hebei Province,on the west; and Huanghua Port on the coast of Bohai Sea on the east.It is an important economic development and opening zone around Beijing and Tianjin and also in circum-Bohai-Sea Region.Hengshui is the largest station of the Beijing-Kowloon Railway on the south of Beijing.Since the Beijing-Kowloon and Shijiazhuang-Dezhou Railways run through the whole range of Hengshui; National Highways G106 and G307 extend in all directions; the Shijiazhuang-Huanghua,Hengshui-Dezhou and Daqing-Guangzhou Expressways run like a flying rainbow,and also the Tianjin-Shijiazhuang,Beijing-Kowloon,Jinan-Shijiazhuang-Taiyuan-Yinchuan communication optical cables cross each other within Hengshui,Hengshui has become an important transportation and communication hub integrating railway,highway and communication,and also a distribution center for passengers,logistics and information.Therefore,Hengshui was praised by Fei Xiaotong,a famous economist,as the “Golden Crossing.”(https://www.daowen.com)
By the end of 2018,there had been a permanent population of more than 4.5 million persons in Hengshui,including more than 1.6 million urban citizens.Mainly Han nationality live in Hengshui,together with 37 ethnic minorities,mainly including Manchu,Hui,Mongolian,and Tujia nationalities and accounting for about 0.23% of the total population of Hengshui City.
