◎Hengshui Lake

According to historical documents,the Yellow River burst and changed its course at Qi County,Henan Province in 602 BC,turning into a depression,known as “Qianqing Depression,” namely Hengshui Lake,whose water surface area is 75 square kilometers,including 57 in Jizhou and 18 in Taocheng District.It is the second largest freshwater lake in the North China Plain,since its area and water storage scale are second only to Baiyangdian Lake.It was approved by the State Forestry Administration and the provincial government as Hebei Provincial Nature Reserve of Hengshui Lake Wetland and Birds in July 2000,and as National Nature Reserve in June 2003.(https://www.daowen.com)
