Reputation and Innovative Development

Baoding is a National Historical and Cultural City,an Outstanding Tourism City of China,a National Garden City,China’s first Demonstration City of Innovation-driven Development,a pilot city of the WWF Low Carbon City Initiative,a national Double Support Model City,the hometown of Chinese Traditional Opera,a hometown of swimming,and a“City of Longevity.”It is also called a“City of Champions”since it has cultivated 23 world champions,such as Guo Jingjing,Pang Wei and Wang Han.

As a pilot city of low-carbon development chosen by WWF and the National Development and Reform Commission and the first Demonstration City of Innovation-driven Development chosen by the China Association for Science and Technology among prefecture-level cities in China,Baoding has taken six major industries,namely advanced manufacturing,new energy and smart grid,biomedical health,new-generation information technology,new materials,energy conservation and environmental protection,as the focus of development,and is accelerating the construction of a“3+3”modern industrial system led by the six major industries.

On April 1,2017,the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the State Council decided to set up the Xiong’an New Area in Hebei Province.The planned area covers Xiongxian County,Rongcheng County and Anxin County of Baoding and some surrounding areas,bringing a golden opportunity for development to Baoding.
