Preface

Cancer registration is a statistical system to collect, analyze and evaluate related information including cancer incidence, mortality and survival, through which cancer occurrence and death in the population could be obtained completely, accurately and timely through cancer registration.It is the basis for cancer prevention and control, and it also provides scientific evidence for health development planning, cancer prevention and control and the effect evaluation.

Supported by National Health Commission and Henan Provincial Health Commission, Henan Cancer Center and Office for Cancer Control and Research established the first population-based Cancer Registry in Lin county(now Linzhou city) in 1988.

The National Health Commission and National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine (ATCM)issued “Approaches for Cancer Registration Management” on February 5th, 2015.Henan Province Health Commission and ATCM made the implementation plan according to the Approaches.Office for Cancer Control and Research in Henan made the regulations and relevant specific procedures, and we established the Provincial Electronic Cancer Registration System (ECRS).All the city and provincial county in Henan are required to set up cancer registries, and to carry out cancer registration project and report new cancer cases through ECRS.

Now 37 population-based cancer registries have been established in Henan Province, and the data basically reflected the cancer incidence and mortality in Henan.(https://www.daowen.com)

“Cancer Report in Henan, 2019” reported systematically the cancer incidence and mortality in Henan cancer registration areas in 2016, and it provided basic data for cancer control and research.
