Foreword

Cancer registration is vital for cancer prevention and control.Complete and effective cancer registration data can reflect cancer incidence, mortality and survival, and the epidemic characteristics and temporal trend were also acquired.Therefore, it could provide evidence to inform strategies for cancer prevention and control.

In order to standardize cancer registration work, acquire accurate and stable cancer incidence, mortality and survival data timely, national Health Commission and national ATCM (Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, ATCM) issued “Approaches for Cancer Registration Management” on February 5th, 2015.According to the “Approaches”, administrative departments of Health Commission and ATCM are responsible for building cancer registration system, organizing, coordinating and supervising cancer registration implementation and management.Provincial cancer registry was first established, responsible for cancer registration in whole province.Urban cancer registries were established in provincial capital and prefecture-level cities, and the rural cancer registries in the counties or county-level cities, responsible for cancer registration within their municipal districts,respectively.Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDCP) in the registration areas take the responsibilities of providing vital statistics data.All medical institutions within municipal district need to report all malignant tumors (including central nervous system benign cancers) to the cancer registry center regularly.

In 2019, there were 37 cancer registries reported cancer registration data of 2016 in Henan province, among which 34 cancer registries belong to the CDCPs and 3 belong to cancer control offices.There were 35 registries satisfied registration quality requirements with a population coverage of 29,231,229, accounting for 27.10% of the total population in the end of 2016 in Henan.

“Cancer Report in Henan, 2019” includes six chapters:Chapter 1 is an overview of the development of cancer registration system and the vital statistics system in Henan Province; Chapter 2 introduces data source and collecting methods; Chapter 3 introduces the index system of data quality, methods for evaluating data quality and the statistical methods; Chapter 4 describes the cancer incidence and mortality in Henan Province; Chapter 5 describes incidence and mortality of cancers in each site, and chapter 6 is appendix, which describes the incidence and mortality of each cancer registry in Henan Province.(https://www.daowen.com)

The work presented in this report derived from data collected by all registries in Henan Provin ce.We are grateful to all the staffs who had contributed to and supported the work of Henan cancer registry and looking forward to close cooperation in the future.
