3.3.2 Insulating Stringing Tool

1.Basic Structure and Function of Insulating Stringing Tool

(1)Basic structure

The insulating ratchet tightener consists of the operating rod,the ratchet mechanism,the insulating tape and the stringing hook,as shown in Fig.3-27.

(2)Basic function

It is often used to tighten steel-cored aluminum stranded conductor,steel strands and lines.

2.Classification and Technical Specifications of Insulating Stringing Tools

(1)Classification

There are two main types of insulating stringing tools:insulating double groove tighteners and insulating ratchet tighteners.The insulating double hook tightener is shown in Fig.3-28.

(2)Technical specifications

①The insulating rod of the insulating ratchet tightener is made of fiberglass material.It is safe and reliable.The hook can be rotated 360°.It is equipped with a safety lock device.The stainless steel spring can prevent corrosion.The copper connector can prevent moisture.

②The insulating double hook tightener consists of operating rod and outer rubber.The insulating double hook can be operated with the operating rod.The conductor hook has a small hole connecting the operating rod.A spring lock is mounted to the operating rod for safety.The metal part consists of heat-treated aluminum alloy and copper alloy,which is firm and reliable.

In the United States,only the insulating ratchet tightener is produced.The technical parameters are shown in Table 3-6.The parameters of the double-groove insulating tightener and the insulating ratchet tightener produced in Japan are shown in Tables 3-7 and 3-8.

3.Inspection Items of Insulating Stringing Tools(https://www.daowen.com)

(1)Check that the mechanical part is flexible and has no jamming.

(2)When using,please keep the insulation ribbon away from sharp edges and corners to avoid wear or cutting.

(3)Do not use the stringing tool as a load lifting adjustment tool.

(4)Insulating straps or insulating tubes shall not be dirty,burned,etc.

(5)Check the nameplate of the insulating stringing tool and do not overload it.

(6)为Before the insulating stringing tools are used,the test certificate shall be checked for validity period.Insulating stringing tools beyond the validity period cannot be used.

Fig.3-29 shows the insulation inspection of the Japanese insulating ratchet tightener.

4.Usage of the Insulating Stringing Tools

The insulating stringing tool is used to tighten the conductor during the live maintenance of the distribution and overhead line.Select the appropriate insulating stringing tool according to the load of the line.The method of using the insulating ratchet tightener is described as an example.When using,first loosen the insulating ribbon on the tightener,fix the handle end on the cross arm,and clamp the conductor with the wire clamp at the other end.When the insulating ribbon passes through the insulator part,the special wrench is pulled.Due to the anti-reverse action of the ratchet,gradually wind the insulating ribbon around the ratchet roller to tighten the conductor and fix the tightened conductor on the insulator.Then loosen the pawl,loosen the insulating ribbon,release the wire clamp,and finally wrap the insulating ribbon around the roller of the ratchet.The usage of the insulating tightener is shown in Fig.3-30.

5.Precautions for Storage of Insulating Stringing Tools

Insulating stringing tools shall be kept on shelves in a well-ventilated,clean and dry special room.If the storage period exceeds the production date by 1 year,the electrical performance test shall be carried out according to relevant standards.Fig.3-31 shows the storage of the insulating ratchet tightener and insulating double hook tightener.

6.Test of Insulating Stringing Tools

The preventive test of the insulating stringing tools includes the following items.

(1)Electrical test.Including the power frequency withstand voltage test.The test cycle is 1 year.

(2)Mechanical test.Including the tensile test.The test cycle is 1 year.
