The Third Daughter and the Snake Clan
The third daughter grew up.One day，Ayuetie and the girl went up the hill to cut thatch.The thatch was cut and tied，but Ayuetie could not move it.She wondered why the thatch was so heavy.What was inside it？she untied the string.Suddenly，a long and big green snake emerged from the thatch.The snake tightly wrapped around her and said，“Ayuetie！Ayuetie！Marry your third daughter to me！Or I'll kill you！”
In order to save her mother，the girl had to follow the green snake to his home and become his wife.
Later，the daughter gave birth to more than ten children.She was too busy，so she asked her mother to come to the snake cave to take care of the children.The daughter said to her mother，“Ama！The children are in the big wooden cabinet now.Please feed them if they cry！”After saying it，she went to work in the field with the snake.
After Ayuetie had cleaned up the house，she heard the children crying in the big wooden cabinet and she ran to open the cabinet.Ho！There were no children in the cabinet，but a dozen snakes，big and small，all with their heads raising high and their eyes fixing on her.Ayuetie hastened to cover the cabinet.She thought：Good Heavens！The snake must have eaten the babies！The more she thought about it，the angrier she became.After burning a big pot of boiling water，she poured it all into the wooden cabinet and burned the little snakes to death.
The third daughter came back from the field.She asked Ayuetie，“Ama，Ama！Did your grandsons cry？Did you feed them？”
Ayuetie said angrily，“There is no child in the cabinet at all but snakes！”
“Ama！They are your grandsons！”
Hearing this，Ayuetie was petrified and said，“I'm so sorry！I thought the snakes had eaten the babies！I was so angry that I had burned the snakes to death with a pot of boiling water！”
The daughter opened the cabinet in a hurry and found the little snakes were all dead！She cried and said to her mother，“Run，run！Ama！You will be killed by the green snake as soon as he comes back！”
Just as Ayuetie was about to leave，the green snake returned home.Knowing all his children were dead，he was so angry that bit Ayuetie to death.Then the green snake took the third daughter to another place to live.
Later，the third daughter gave birth to two sons.One was named Li Bao，the other Li Shao.Both the brothers had several sons，some of them speak Nu dialect，some of them speak Lisu dialect，and some of them speak other dialects，and people regarded them as the Snake Clan.
