1.1.2 Incidence and Death of Breast Cancer in China

The incidence and mortality of malignant tumors in China are also on the rise.It is estimated that 3.929 million new cancer cases(2.151 million males and 1.778 million females)are in 2015,and the incidence rate was 285.83 per 100,000.The ASR China was 190.64 per 100,000,and the ASR world was 186.39 per 100,000.The cumulative rate(0~74 years old)was 21.44%.There will be 2.338 millioncancer deaths(1,480,000 males and 858,000 females),and the mortality rate was 170.05 per 100,000.The ASR China was 106.72 per 100,000,and the ASR world was 105.84 per 100,000.Breast cancer is the most common cancer among female.[12]

Although female breast cancer in China has lower incidence and lower mortality around the world, the incidence and mortality is rising steeply with economic development and the change of lifestyle and the aggravation of population aging. In small and medium-sized cities and rural areas, breast cancer rates are rising faster.Female breast cancer ranks the first in incidence and sixth in death of female cancer in China.[13](https://www.daowen.com)

According to statistics, from 2008 to 2012,the incidence rate of female breast cancer was 42.67 per 100,000 in registration areas of China. The ASR China was 30.83 per 100,000,and the ASR world was 28.87 per 100,000.Female breast cancer occupies the first place of female cancer, accounting for 16.96%.The incidence rate in urban areas was 51.85 per 100,000,higher than that in rural areas(28.29 per 100,000).After adjusting the age composition, the incidence gap between urban and rural areas was narrowed, but it was still higher in urban areas than in rural areas. The incidence of female breast cancer in the east china was 46.35 per 100,000,higher than that in the west China(27.60 per 100,000)and the central China(36.38 per 100,000).After adjusting the age composition, the incidence gap between different regions was narrowed, but the east China was still slightly higher than west and central China. From 2008 to 2012,the new cases of female breast cancer in eastern, central and western regions accounted for 17.41%,16.26%and 13.84%.According to statistics, from 2008 to 2012,the mortality rate of female breast cancer was 10.36 per 100,000 in registration areas of China, accounting for 7.7%of the all female deaths cases and ranking the 6th.The mortality rate of female breast cancer in urban areas was 11.64 per 100,000,higher than that in rural areas(8.36 per 100,000).The mortality rate of female breast cancer in east China was 10.81 per 100,000,higher than that in the central China(9.90 per 100,000)and the west China(7.83 per 100,000).Female breast cancer deaths accounted for 7.64%of all female death cases in the east China,8.13%in the central, and 7.14%in the west.[13]

The female breast cancer incidence increased with age and reached the peak at age 30 to 59 years old,it's also a major cause of cancer death in female over aged 45,and declined at age 60.The incidence rates increased from 28.37 per 100,000 in 2003 to 37.04 per 100,000 in 2012,the mortality rates increased from 6.58 per 100,000 in 2003 up to 6.99 per 100,000 in 2012.The incidence rate increased obviously, while the mortality rate changed little. The incidence and mortality of female breast cancer in urban are higher than rural, but the mortality of female breast cancer in urban has decreased slightly in the past 10 years, while the mortality in rural has increased significantly. With the development of society and economy, life style has changed significantly, but the risk factors related to breast cancer still exist widely. It is expected that the incidence rate of breast cancer in China will continue to rise for a long time in the future, especially in rural areas.Meanwhile, the lack of opportunities for diagnosis and screening is common in rural areas, and the death rate of breast cancer in rural areas will continue to rise.
