RESEARCHES ON DYNAMIC EVOLUTION OF GAS HYDRATE SYSTEM(Ⅰ):ITS DEVELOPMENT IN GEOLOGICAL HISTORY

Abstract:In 1995,Dickens,et al.studied the Latest Paleocene Thermal Maximum(LPTM)and presented an early hypothesis concerning the importance of gas hydrate as an agent of global change. They suggested that an excursion from-2‰to-3‰inδ13C of dissolved inorganic carbon across the LPTM may be explained by the release and subsequent oxidation of hydrate-bound methane to carbon dioxide.Since then extensive researches have been done on gas hydrate evolvement in geological history.Recent progresses on LPTM,snowball Earth of the late Neoproterozoic era,Millennial-scale events during the Quaternary period and others have been summarized. It is useful for a better understanding of the role of gas hydrates in global change and global carbon cycle to model and analyze the dynamic evolution process of the gas hydrate-gas system.

Keywords:gas hydrate system;global change;carbon cycle;dynamic evolution;carbon isotope excursion event
