Introduction
The Lisu have a population of 668,000 people according to the census ofthe year 2010.Lisu are mainly distributed in Lushui, Fugong, Gongshan and Lanping counties ofNujiang Lisu Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province.
The Lisu settlement is part of the valley slopes of the Nujiang, Lancang and Jinsha rivers, which are known as the “Grand Canyon of the East”, with abundant rainfall, fertile soil, dense forests and rich produce. This place is also known as the “gene bank of plants and animals”, “animal kingdom” and “plant kingdom” ofthe Asian continent. Since ancient times, the Lisu people have mainly engaged in agricultural production, and also engaged in animal husbandry, hunting and gathering. Lisu subsistence is based on paddy fields,mountain rice, fruit and vegetables.
