Introduction

According to the sixth national census in 2010, the Yao had a population of 2796,000,and 220,000 in Yunnan Province. The Yao People are widely distributed in Asia, Europe,Americas, Austrilia while its majority still in China, primarily in over 130 counties of Guangxi, Hunan, Guangdong, Guizhou Jiangxi and Yunnan Provinces. They number the most in Guangxi province. The Yao languages belong to a branch ofthe Sino-Tibetan Miao-Yao language family.
