Yangtze Estuary Deep-water Channel has been introduced in detail,and also the siltation problem and dredging problem have been described.
In order to combine dredging in the channel and filling materials shortage on the Hengsha shoal,a comprehensive description about resource utilization of dredged soil has been explained.The method is,firstly dumping the soil on arranged storage pools in advanced,and then pumping the soil on land.
This method is practical,but lots of soils will diffuse and be taken away by current,via a numerical model,SWEM3D,the suspended sediment concentration has been estimated.It shows that dumping soil on storage pool can improve the background sediment concentration in North Passage of Yangtze Estuary,and can cause siltation in navigation channel.
In the near future,when Hengsha Reclamation finished,no engineering has been planned to adopt the dredged soils,so how to treat the dredged soil will be urgent problem.
