Currently,almost 50%of the world's population live in earth-based dwellings[6].Many world heritage sites like Buddhist monasteries,some wall sections of Great Wall of China,Potala palace in Lhasa,etc.include earth construction.Recent interest in rammed earth is mainly due to its inherent green attributes.Table 1 shows the advantages of rammed earth.

Compressed stabilized earth block(CSEB)is environmentally sustainable(less carbon-dioxide emission and less energy requirement as shown in Table 2)compared to the conventional building materials and would be appropriate in case of urban house construction.
