Situation 3:At the Level-1 hospital
Doc.Li:You are warmly welcome to Level-1 hospital.
Mr.Brown:Thank you!I was well treated in Chinese level-2 hospital in DRC in 2009.It was my first peacekeeping mission. My malaria was removed by Chinese angels.
Doc.Li:That’s sweet. Here the Level-1 hospital is also ready to provide professional service to peacekeeping counterparts.
Mr.Brown:Anything you can tell me about your clinic?
Doc.Li:Well.It is mainly armed with primary health care and immediate life-saving and resuscitation services.Other Level-1 capabilities are:routine sick calls and the management of minor sicknesses and injuries among personnel;casualty collection from the point of injury/wounding and limited triage;stabilization of casualties;preparation of casualties for MEDEVAC;limited inpatient services;and advice on disease prevention, medical risk assessment and force protection within the area of responsibility.
Mr.Brown:Can you tell the soldier beside you to show me how to do CPR?(After the CPR demonstration)
Doc.Li:Actually, all the medic soldiers are well trained in skills like CPR,bleeding control, fracture immobilization, wound dressing and bandaging(including burns),casualty transport and evacuation, communication and reporting, etc.
Mr.Brown:When in the field, even the basic first-aid will help a lot.I am fully confident that you can operate the electrocardiogram(ECG)machine and other key medical facilities well.So we will not waste our time here and let’s move on to the next part.
