3.5.9 Deletion
Deletion refers to get rid of the original text.In the sample film, getting rid of the expressive content in a film hardly occurs. As such, the frequent use of Gottlieb’s strategy of “deletion” would not be appropriate in animation film subtitling.Along with condensation and decimation, subtitlers may be reluctant to use deletion in order to convey as much as possible the original information contained in the film to the target audience. As with the strategy of decimation, however, deletion is also considered in preference to a more extreme technique in subtitling.(https://www.daowen.com)
Since deletion is stronger than decimation, the use of this strategy in animation film subtitle translation should be also rare.
