（1）base：基底；基础。侧重构成或支撑某一具体物体的基础，也可指军事基地或用作比喻意义。如：

（2）basis：基础；底部；主要成分，基本原则或原理。主要用作抽象或引申意义。如：
The basis of his opinion is something he read in the paper.

（4）ground：地面；土地；范围；根据；打基础。含义与basis和foundation接近。一般指某种决定、论点或关系的基础，也可指某种原因的基础。如：

背单词是学好英语的基础。
