◎Xifeng Pass
The Xifeng Pass is the pass at the eastern section of the Yanshan Mountains, which was called the Lulong Pass in ancient times, and the road leads to the north and south. The Songting Customs Pass was set here in the Han Dynasty. At the end of the Eastern Han Dynasty, politician and militarist Cao Cao passed through this fortress to fight against Wuhuan tribe from Liaoxi Area; in the Eastern Jin Dynasty, Mu Rongjun, the founder of former Yan, also passed through this fortress to march troops into the Central Plains. The fortress was later renamed the Xifeng Pass (xi means happy in Chinese). According to legend, there was once a man who hadn't returned from a long battle, and his father inquired everyone about his whereabouts, looking for him across thousands of miles. Finally the father and his son met at the foot of the mountain, hugging each other and laughing so hard that they died of extreme excitement. And then they were buried there, which gave the place its current name. During the Yongle period in the Ming Dynasty, it was mistakenly called Xifenghui. In the third year of Jingtai period in the Ming Dynasty (1452), a city was built and the pass was set up, and it was named the Xifengkou Pass. Today it is commonly known as the Xifeng Pass. The Xifeng Pass Great Wall is located more than 60 kilometers to the northwest of Qianxi County, Hebei Province. It is one of the first 32 important passes built in the Yanshan Mountains by Xu Da, a general in the early years of Hongwu period in the Ming Dynasty.(https://www.daowen.com)
