◎ Cui Hu:Author of the Poem “Face like Peach Bloss...
Cui Hu (772-846) was born in Boling (now Anping County,Hengshui) in the Tang Dynasty. He was handsome. He studied hard, but failed several provincial examinations. It is said that he wandered alone to a village house in the south of the capital on the Tomb Sweeping Day.He knocked at the door to ask for water to drink.A beautiful girl gave water to him,and leaned on a tree with deep feelings in her eyes after seeing that he was handsome. After leaving,Cui Hu also felt lost.He revisited the village again on the Tomb Sweeping Day the next year, but saw the door was locked, the peach blossom was still booming in the courtyard, and only the girl didn’t stay.Chagrined in his heart,Cui Hu wrote a poem on the gate,“Peach blossom and a girl’s face were red inside this gate on the same day last year.Peach blossom is still smiling in spring breeze today, but I do not know where the girl is.” A few days later,Cui Hu came here again. An old man told him that the young girl had died of longing for the poet who wrote the poem on the gate.He went into the house and cried beside her bed.Surprisingly, the girl resurged. It is said that the old man agreed that his daughter married Cui Hu.The story lasted for thousands of years and was compiled into novels and dramas. The poem has also been handed down to today.(https://www.daowen.com)
