◎III.Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty Oあered Sacrific...
In 110BC, Liu Che, Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty, visited Jieshi after oあering sacrifices to the Heaven at Mount Tai.He ordered to build the Hanwu Platform on the middle peak (Longshan) of Lianfeng Mountain to worship the sea and seek immortal elixir. The historic site of the Qin and Han Dynasties on the middle peak is the highest point of the Qin and Han architectural sites found in Qinhuangdao and Liaoning coastal areas.Located at Jinshanzui, Beidaihe, the site of the Qin Palace is 23m above sea level. The elevation of the Qin and Han architectural sites on Dongnan Mountain, Haigang District is roughly the same as that of Jinshanzui. The site of the “Hanwu Platform” in Hei Mountain is about 20m above sea level, while the site of the Qin Palace in Shibeidi is only 2.3m above sea level. All of them were combined buildings near the sea, except the Qin and Han architectural sites on the top of the middle peak which face to the Bohai Sea and stand alone on the top of the mountain.According to the analysis of the excavated area, location, scale, pattern and unearthed cultural relics, the Qin and Han architectural sites on the top of the middle peak should be the place where the emperors oあered sacrifices to the sea.
