◎Beidaihe-To the Tune of Lang Tao Sha

Mao Zedong

A rainstorm sweeps down on this northern land,

White breakers leap to the sky.

No fishing boats offQinhuangdao

Are seen on the boundless ocean.

Where are they gone?

Note: Mao Zedong, the leader of People's Republic of China, wrote a unique historical chant, Beidaihe-To the Tunes of Lang Tao Sha at Beidaihe in 1954, feeling emotional about endless waves, historical vicissitudes, and decades of hard eあorts to struggle for and create the new look of the motherland.

Nearly two thousand years ago

Wielding his whip, the Emperor Wu of Wei

Rode eastward to Jieshi; his poem survives.

Today the autumn wind still sighs,

But the world has changed!
