◎An Inscription about Lotus Stone

Kang Youwei

Note: This poem was written by Kang Youwei in 1923 when he and his son-in-law visited Beidaihe.

This poem can be interpreted as follows:

Long waves are beating the shore, and the magnificent pavilions are standing on the top of the mountain.

The paradise is created by nature and people living in Penglai are like immortals.

You can watch the sounding sea at dusk, and appreciate the glow in the morning.

The moon rises in the east and rain falls in the west, and young ladies are enjoying traveling in this place.
