Although Trichoderma mutant EA3-867 grew at different rates on a variety of carbon sources，only sophorose，cellobiose and cellulose could induce cellulase production（see Figure 2）.EA3-867 could utilize monosaccharides and glycerol very well，but could not produce significant amounts of cellulase.After the mutant was cultured for 48 h，these monosaccharides were usually depleted.The growth of Trichoderma on glycerol medium may roughly be divided into the lag phase（0—16 h），the log phase（16—48 h）and the stationary phase（＞48 h）.When cellulose or cellobiose（0.5%）were used as sole carbon sources，the mutant grew slowly and began to produce cellulase after 2 or 3 days in culture.The mutant，however，could produce cellulase after 18 h in culture on sophorose（0.5%）as the sole carbon source.On the basis of mycelial growth and cellulase production，all the tested carbon sources are divided into three types.

（1）Sophorose，as the strongest inducer of cellulase，is characterized by a stimulation of early and rapid cellulase production.
（2）Cellulose（cellulose powder，filter paper，cotton），cellulose derivatives（CMC）and hydrolysates（cellobiose），which were not good carbon sources for mycelial growth，could induce cellulase production to different degrees.EA3-867 produced cellulase on cellobiose more rapidly than on cellulose，but more slowly than on sophorose.(https://www.daowen.com)
（3）Sucrose，maltose，as well as glucose，fructose，xylose，galactose，glycerol，which were good carbon sources for Trichoderma mycelium growth，could not induce cellulase production except for a trace of constitutive cellulase.
