Patients

Plasma samples were obtained from 53 subjects at California Pacific Medical Center.Fifteen individuals were HIV1-seronegative，while thirty-eight individuals were HIV1-seropositive（5 asymptomatic，13 ARC and 20 AIDS）.The ARC and AIDS patients were classified according to the revised criteria from the Centers for Disease Control（CDC）（CDC，1987）.Thirty of these patients had been on stable doses of zidovudine（AZT）for at least six months at the time of plasma sampling.In addition to AZT，one patient was taking dideoxyinosine（ddI）.one was on dideoxycytidine（ddC）and one was taking prednisone.Plasma samples were obtained from blood collected in EDTA by centrifugation at 800 g for 15 min at room temperature.The samples were frozen at-60℃until use.In addition，serial plasma samples were obtained from five patients（3 ARC and 2 AIDS）who were on stable doses of AZT.The samples were obtained every 3—6 months over 1—3 years.CD4+T-cell counts were measured in eash patient using flow cytometry，as previously described（Kiprov et al.，1984）.(https://www.daowen.com)
