6.5.1 Anemometer

6.5.1 Anemometer

1.Basic Structure and Function of Anemometer

(1)Basic structure

The anemometer consists of two parts:a wind speed measuring sensor and a display meter.

(2)Basic function

An anemometer that converts velocity signals into electrical signals.Fig.6-26 shows the structure of anemometer.

2.Classification of Anemometers

Anemometer can be classified as wind cup type anemometer, propeller type anemometer, hot wire anemometer, digital anemometer and acoustic anemometer according to the principle. At present, digital anemometer is most commonly used in live working.

3.Inspection Contents of Anemometer

The anemometer must be inspected before use as follows.

(1)Check whether the appearance of anemometer is good.

(2)Check the factory certificate and calibration certificate of the anemometer and confirm that the anemometer is within the inspection period.

(3)Check whether the battery of anemometer is good.

(4)Check whether the joints are in good condition.

4.Usage of Anemometer

(1)Insert the sensor into the display meter, then raise the sensor with one hand, and operate the reading of the display meter with the other hand.

(2)Keep the posture unchanged, rotate a certain angle, and measure the wind speed again.

(3)Repeat the above steps and take the maximum wind speed after several more points are measured.(https://www.daowen.com)

(4)If the anemometer has abnormal smell, sound or smoke,or there is liquid flowing inwards during operation, turn off the instrument and take out the battery immediately.Otherwise, there will be danger of electric shock, fire or damage to anemometer.

(5)Do not expose the probe and anemometer body to rain.Otherwise, there will be danger of electric shock, fire or personal injury.

(6)Do not touch the sensor inside the probe.

(7)It is forbidden to use the anemometer in combustible gas environment.

(8)Do not drop or press the anemometer.Otherwise, malfunction or damage may be caused to the anemometer.

(9)Do not touch the sensor of the probe when the anemometer is charged.Otherwise, the measurement result may be affected or damage to the internal circuit of the anemometer may be caused.

5.Precautions for Storage of Anemometer

(1)The anemometer shall be stored in a well-ventilated,dry and clean environment, and put on shelves.

(2)Properly keep technical data and instructions of instruments and apparatus.

(3)Take out battery when the anemometer is not in use for a long time.Otherwise,battery may leak,causing damages to anemometer;

(4)Do not place anemometer in a place with high temperature, high humidity, dust and direct sunlight.Otherwise, air will cause damage to the internal device or deterioration of anemometer performance.

(5)Do not wipe the anemometer with volatile liquid.Otherwise, air may cause deformation and discoloration of the anemometer shell. When there are stains on the surface of anemometer,it can be wiped with soft fabric and neutral detergent.

6.Preventive Test of Anemometer

The preventive test type of anemometer is mainly to check the anemometer regularly, and the test cycle shall be half a year.
