7.1.3 Climbers
1.Basic Structure and Function of Climbers
The climbers,also known as the iron stands,are a tool for climbing the electric pole.Climbers are generally made of high-strength seamless tubes.After heat treatment,they have the advantages of light weight,high strength,good toughness,good adjustability,portability,flexibility,safety,reliability,and portability.They are ideal tools for electricians to climb concrete electric poles or wooden electric poles of different specifications.
2.Basic Types and Performance Parameters
(1)Basic type
Climbers are divided into two types:One is the climbers with iron teeth on the buckle for climbing the wooden electric pole,as shown in Fig.7-11(a);the other is the climbers with the buckle wrapped with rubber for climbing concrete electric pole,as shown in Fig.7-11(b),and Fig.7-11(c)shows the picture of the climbers.The speed of the climbers climbing the electric pole is high.

3.Inspection Before Use of Climbers
(1)Before use,the climbers must check whether its metal parts are worn,rusted and cracked,whether the movable buckle slides flexibly in the buckle body,whether the instep strap is in good condition,etc.
(2)Before using the climbers,it is necessary to carefully check whether the test certificate is within the validity period,and the climbers exceeding the validity period of the test is not allowed to be used.(https://www.daowen.com)
(3)Before the climbers are used,a human body load impulse test must be carried out on the climbers to check whether each part of the climbers is firm and reliable.
4.Usage of Climbers
Climbers are mainly used for climbing electric poles,of which wooden pole climbers are mainly used for climbing concrete electric poles or steel pipe towers of electric power,postal telecommunications lines.The climbers of the concrete electric pole is suitable for climbing the pole of the concrete electric pole for electric power and postal telecommunication lines.
As shown in Fig.7-12,the climbers are used to climb the pole,and as shown in Fig.7-13,the climbers are used to lower the pole.

5.Precautions for Storage of Climbers
Climbers shall be kept in a dry and ventilated warehouse and must be numbered and stored on shelves.Fig.7-14 shows the storage of pole-climbing tools(climbers,lifting board).

6.Preventive Test of Climbers
Preventive test of climbers is static load test,and the test cycle is one year.
