7.2.1 Insulating Screwdrivers

7.2.1 Insulating Screwdrivers

1.Structure and Function of Insulating Screwdrivers

Insulating screwdrivers are also called screwdrivers.Insulating sleeves are sleeved on the metal parts of the screw rods of common screwdrivers, and the heads of the insulating screwdrivers have two types, namely a straight type and a cross type;Insulated screwdrivers are tools used to tighten or loosen grooved screws on the head.Fig.7-18 shows the picture of the insulating screwdrivers.

2.Types and Performance Parameters of Insulating Screwdrivers

(1)Basic type

There are several types of insulating minus screwdrivers, including insulating square screwdrivers, insulated cross screwdrivers, insulating quick screwdrivers, insulated elbow screw screwdrivers, etc.

(2)Performance data

Insulating screwdrivers generally take the diameter of the screwdrivers x the length of the screwdrivers as specification parameters.Commonly used screwdrivers have diameters of 3mm,5mm,7mm,9mm,etc.,and commonly used screwdrivers have lengths of 50mm,100mm,150mm,300mm,etc.

3.Inspection of Insulating Screwdrivers Before Use

(1)Check whether the handle part of the insulating screwdriver is cracked and damaged, and check whether the insulating sleeve is loose and cracked.

(2)Check whether the knife edge of the insulating screwdriver is blunt and damaged. Those with serious damage, deformation, split handle or damage to the knife edge shall be discarded.

4.Usage of Screwdrivers

(1)Appropriate insulating screwdrivers shall be selected according to the groove width and groove shape of the tightened or loosened screw head.

(2)It is not allowed to use a smaller screwdriver to unscrew a larger screw.(https://www.daowen.com)

(3)Insulating cross screwdrivers shall be used to tighten or loosen screws with cross grooves in the head.

(4)Insulating elbow screwdrivers shall be used for screw heads with limited space.

(5)Do not tighten or loosen the screws on the workpiece held in your hand with the insulating screwdriver. The workpiece shall be fixed in the clamp to prevent injury.

(6)It is not allowed to pry open gaps or remove metal burrs and other objects by hammering the end of the insulating screwdriver handle.

(7)Insulating screwdrivers shall not be used as crowbars, and shall not be hammered on the handle by hand, nor shall wrenches or pliers be used at the handle and knife edge of the screwdrivers to increase torque force to prevent bending damage of the screwdrivers.

(8)Do not use insulating screwdriver tools to play or fight,so as to prevent personal injury.

(9)When using insulating screwdriver to screw the tool, the posture shall be correct and the force shall be appropriate. The correct usage of insulating screwdrivers is shown in Fig.7-19.

5.Precautions for Storage of Insulating Screwdrivers

The insulating screwdrivers shall be kept in a dry and well-ventilated tools and instruments warehouse, stored in a special tools and instruments box or placed at the fixed point of the shelf.

6.Preventive Test of Insulating Screwdrivers

The withstand voltage of the insulation part of the common insulating screwdriver is 500V,and the withstand voltage of the insulation part of the high-voltage insulating screwdriver can reach 1000V or 1500V.Preventive test for insulating screwdrivers includes appearance inspection and high-voltage power frequency withstand voltage test for insulation part. The test cycle shall be 1 year.
