8.2.3 RFID System
Radio frequency identification(RFID)is a non-contact automatic identification technology which can automatically identify target objects and obtain relevant data through radio frequency signals. The identification can work in various harsh environments without manual intervention. At the same time,it can also identify fast moving objects and multiple tags, with quick and convenient operation.Fig.8-6 shows an RFID system.

RFID system is a simple wireless system with only two basic devices, which are mainly used to control, detect and track objects. The system consists of a reader(or interrogator)and many tags(or transponders).
It is an automatic identification system consisting of radio frequency tag, reader and computer network.Generally, the reader emits energy in an area to form an electromagnetic field. When the radio frequency tag passes through this area,it detects the reader's signal and sends the stored data. The reader receives the signal sent by the radio frequency tag, decodes and verifies the accuracy of the data to achieve the purpose of identification.
Application of RFID in warehouse management of tools and instruments for live working:Tools stored in the warehouse of tools and instruments for live working can be identified by readers in each key link of the workflow after RFID tags are affixed on the tools.
