Part B Reading

Hurt

Generally speaking, sometimes a hurt to feelings causes much greater harm than an injury. The latter will heal by care and nourishment while the former is sometimes so deep as to leave behind a life-long suffering.

Love is so much valued because it is one of the most beautiful flowers of youth, the golden time of one’s life. When love comes it will bring us great happiness if we are able to deal with it correctly.Otherwise, it will cause a hurt to us. In my opinion, nothing other than a hurt received in love affairs is likely to affect one more severely. There is such a kind of person who does not love her admirer but somehow or other accepts the latter’s affection, trying to cover it up by such a cheap excuse as “I’m afraid of hurting him. ” But the facts is her doing so is itself a real hurt.

Remember love is mutual. If you don’t have the same affection as the person who falls in love with you does towards you, you never turn round to look even if there is a tearful pleading face. That is just bad feelings at that time. As time goes on his grief will go off itself little by little. There will be a day when he finds his own happiness. You will then be pleased to see that now he has got a reciprocal love.

Go ahead holding up your head. Don’t be disturbed by your refusal to accept his love for it is not your fault. On your road, you will find flowers here and there, among which you can pick the one you like and are satisfied with.

When you look back at the end of the road, the person whose love you once didn’t accept will be the one forever grateful to you and wishing you well and happy, for you gave him respect instead of doing hurt.
