This section will investigate how identity construction is used strategically as a means of satisfying communicative needs in academic advising interaction. Section 7.1.1 will discuss the communicative needs to be satisfied in academic advising interaction. Section 7.1.2 will present how various identities can be constructed to satisfy communicative needs and Section 7.1.3 will explore how advice-givers make identity modification and identity shift to satisfy various communicative needs.
