The Marble and the Jade-Belt Clouds
Long，long time ago，there lived a girl on a sacred mountain.The stars in the sky were not as bright as her eyes，the fresh camellias were not as pretty as her face，and there was nothing more beautiful than her.It was said that jade would grow wherever this girl lived，so people called her“the Jade Girl”.
The Jade Girl liked travelling everywhere.One day，she came to Dali and stood on the top of Cangshan Mountain to savour the beautiful scenery.Erhai Lake was blue，with 18 streams flowing，and the plain was full of flowers.The beautiful view was so attracted that she decided to settle down in Cangshan Mountain.As soon as the Jade Girl stayed in Cangshan Mountain，the jade began to appear there.
People knew the news soon.They went up the mountain every day to collect jade.All of them hoped that this beautiful and kind Jade Girl would stay there for a long time.
But a greedy man came up with a bad idea.He thought to himself，“If I rob the Jade Girl to my home，my house will grow a lot of jade，and I can make a fortune.”So，he went quietly up to the mountain with a rope，a stick，and some solid food.
But the Jade Girl went out to play.Every day，the greedy man went to the place where the Jade Girl lived and waited for her.After a few days，the Jade Girl came back，and she just wanted to have a rest when a man with a rope and a stick dashed towards her.Startled，the Jade Girl hurried out and flew away with the cloud，leaving behind a belt of colored silk.Strangely enough，when the greedy man went to get the belt，it soon disappeared into the rock.
The greedy man waited for a few days and got nothing，so he had to slink home dejectedly.Since the Jade Girl left，Cangshan Mountain did not grow jade any more，and even the original jade became marbles.
The peaks，including Xueren Peak，Sanyang Peak，Zhonghe Peak，and Baiyun Peak，where the Jade Girl lived，grew the most and the best marbles.After she left，there was a five-colored belt penetrating into the rock.Therefore，the stone collected from the place was intertwined with 72 patterns，just like colorful ribbons.People named it“A Strand of Jade Belt”.
