2.Some Misconceptions in the Teaching and Learning of Chinese in Australia

Teachers of Chinese in Australian school comprise of two groups:One is locally trained non-Chinese background teachers with a good understanding and knowledge of the local context and student needs as well as related pedagogy.The other group are native-speakers teachers of the Chinese language，who are overseas-trained or with some local teacher training qualifications.This group of teachers had excellent language and culture knowledge as well as teaching experience in their home country before they migrated to Australia.The diverse backgrounds，training and education have been reflected in their philosophy of learning，teaching and their instructional design and delivery in the classroom.
