Other considerations
6.1 The doses of chloroquine, piperaquine phosphate, primaquine and pyronaridine are calculated on drug base.
6.2 Amodiquine can cause agranulocytosis; naphthoquine can cause hematuria. If there are side effects, the drug should be stopped immediately.
6.3 When using artesunate injection for intravenous injection, 1 mL 5% sodium bicarbonate injection should be injected into artesunate powder and shaken gently for 2 to 3 minutes, then 5 mL isosmotic glucose or normal saline should be injected after dissolution and clarification. In addition, it shall be mixed and slowly injected intravenously (not suitable for infusion). If turbidity occurs in the prepared solution, it cannot be used.
6.4 When using pyronaridine injection for intravenous infusion, 160 mg pyronaridine solution should be injected into 500 mL isotonic glucose or normal saline and the intravenous infusion rate should not exceed 60 drops/min.(https://www.daowen.com)
6.5 Piperaquine can accumulate in liver. When piperaquine tablets are used for chemoprevention, the continuous administration time should not exceed 4 months (if necessary, chemophylaxis should be taken again after stopping the drug for 2-3 months).
6.6 Primaquine should be banned in pregnant women, infants under 1 year old, women breastfeeding infants under 1 year old and those with a history of hemolysis or their family members. Primaquine should be taken under the supervision of medical staff in areas with glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) deficiency.
6.7 In patients with P.vivax and P.oval malaria known to be G6PD deficient, primaquine may be considered at a dose of 0.75 mg base/kg bw once a week for 8 weeks.
