| ChapterⅣ |Surveillance of Malaria Vectors
Vector surveillance can be defined as the regular, systematic collection, analysis and interpretation of vector data for risk assessment, planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of vector control interventions. The objectives of malaria vector surveillance include: vector parameters (existing vector types, blood sucking habits, flight and habitat habits), vector seasonal density and biological characteristics, insecticide resistance, influencing factors of vector control, coverage and quality of vector control and intervention measures. Among them, vector monitoring should be completed: identification of malaria vector species, determination of mosquito species density and mosquito species composition, determination of mosquito blood sucking habits (mainly zoophilic or anthropophilic), monitoring vector susceptibility to insecticides (frequency, intensity and mechanisms of resistance), the rates of infection of the vector with the malaria parasite (sporozoite rate, oocyst rate), the aquatic habitats of immature stages of vectors and habitat characteristics.(https://www.daowen.com)
The frequency of monitoring depends on the problems to be solved and available resources, taking into account the length of the transmission season and other environmental conditions that affect entomological parameters and malaria transmission.
