4.2 THEPLANNING OF TOASTS
A successfully written toast speech always follows strict organization of different sorts of information pertinent in honoring the person(s)in question.The steps in organizing a formal toast are:
a)Identifying the person(s)being honored;
b)Addressing the audience;
c)Specifying the occasion to deliver the toast;
d)Specifying the qualification of the addresser;(https://www.daowen.com)
e)Reviewing the achievements and contributions made by the person(s)being honored;
f) Calling for the audience to join the addresser in making a toast to the person(s)in question by holding up his/her glass.
Because toasts are usually delivered at boisterous dinner parties or balls,the addresser usually stands up,looks around,and holds up his/her glass to call the audience's attention before starting to address the person(s)being honored and other guests present at the parties or balls.The toast is generally realized by drinking the wine.
At informal gatherings,toasts can be prepared and delivered with the omission of some parts of the information listed above in formal toasts.For example,the toast in Format 3 just leaves out item c),item d)and item e).
