Mediation is a structured and interactive Alternative Dispute Resolution(ADR)mechanism where an impartial third party—the mediator works between the disputants to find a common ground for both parties.With the mediator shuttling between the parties,a mediation is expected to result in an optimal agreement satisfying to both parties.Some of the merits of mediation compared with arbitration and litigation are summarized in Table 12-1.
