4.5.5 Data Recording and Processing
1)Data Relording and calculating
(1)Design your own form for data recording.
(2)Calculate the refractive index of the glass by using the measured Brewer’s angle and compare with the theoretical value.
(3)Summarize the methods of obtaining circularly polarized light and elliptically polarized light.
(4)Summarize the method of distinguishing circularly polarized light and natural light and elliptically polarized light and partially polarized light.
(5)In the experiment to verify Marius’law, design a plan to verify Marius’law using experimental data.(https://www.daowen.com)
(6)Summarize the influence of the half-wave plate on polarized light.
2)Tips and attentions
(1)The fluctuation of the luminous intensity of the laser has an impact on the experiment, and it is necessary to warm up for half an hour before the experiment.
(2)When using silicon photocells to record light intensity, the ammeter should be of low internal resistance type, and attention should be paid to deducting the influence of the background current generated by environmental stray light on the data when reading.
(3)Since the additional phase difference produced by the wave plate is related to the wavelength of the incident light wave, the wavelength selected in the experiment should correspond to the wavelength of the illuminating light in order to observe the experimental results as predicted by theory.
