3.5 Theoretical framework of the present study
As shown in Figure 3.6,the theoretical framework of the present study is an organic integration of four parts, namely, translators'construal of image-G in source text, translators'construction of image-G in target text, the establishment of cognitive translation strategies of image-G actualization and the appraisal of cognitive translation strategies. The present study organizes and systematizes these four components logically to form a complete theoretical system. In the first part, translators'cognitive operation in construing image-G in source text mainly consists of four procedures. The first one is embodiment, which is examined from three aesthetic steps of translators'embodied experience of image-G at non-language level. It is served as the embodied basis of translators'cognition of image-G.The second one is recognition principle, which is analyzed from five perceptual organization laws followed by translators in image-G recognition. It is served as the recognition principle in translators'construal of image-G.The core content of this part involves translators'cognitive operation,in which five cognitive dimensions play an important role as it is key in translators'construal of image-G in source text. The fourth one is the linguistic representation of image-G in source text and the representation of image-G in literary discourse space is construed in three different aspects of language. In the second and third part, the four types of correlations between the constructed image-G in TT and the original one in ST are depicted,on which basis the present study explores corresponding cognitive translation strategies of image-G actualization. The fourth part provides the appraisal of cognitive translation strategies proposed in last chapter, with the detailed analysis of the realization degree of image-G actualization in three translated versions of Jiangxue.
