The legend that“Shennong tastes hundreds of herbs and water springs...When he gets poisoned,he resorts to tea for detoxification”explains the origin of central plains tea.The origin of Pu’er tea is also attributed to legends or mythological events.There are countless ancient songs and narrative poems related to tea of the Bulang Ethnic Group, such as Payanleng(also known as“Baaileng”)spreading tea of the Bulang Ethnic Group, Story about Seeds Spread by Zhuge Liang in the Pu’er Banna region, and the tea stories and legends of the De’ang, Wa and other ethnic groups.The legends also reflect the history, which can be used for reference in our study on the origin of Pu’er tea.The following is an overview of several legends with intensive influence and wide spreading scope.
