[1]这类组织在教育、宗教、慈善、科学、文学、公共安全、促进国家和国际业余体育竞赛及预防虐待儿童和动物领域运作，不得参与涉足政治选举活动，资产方面则禁止将资产或收入分配给创始人、董事会成员、经理或员工等个人。
[2]组织性，即在某种程度上是制度化的；民间性，即区别于政府制度；利润不可分配性，即不向所有者或董事返还产生的利润；自治性，即组织能够控制好自己的活动，具有不受外部控制的内部管理程度；志愿性，即涉及一些有意义层面的自愿参与。
