Looking Forward to the New Reform of College English in China
With the advent of the computer age，all kinds of advanced English courseware have sprung up like mushrooms.In some people's view，the production and introduction of various kinds of English courseware mean that students can teach themselves English.They even think that English teachers can be replaced by electronic courseware.
I don't agree with them，but prefer another opinion：College students' teaching themselves English by means of courseware is really a challenge to their teachers，but they still need their teachers' advice.For example，what some students choose may be either too easy or too difficult for them.In class，their teachers can give them some advice on what kinds of courseware are suitable for their levels.If they don't go to the classroom，they will lose their opportunity to communicate with their teachers and classmates in class.In my opinion，combining courseware with traditional English teaching methods is absolutely necessary.But if we stress too much the role of courseware in English teaching and learning and even abandon our traditional teaching methods，it will be unfavorable to the English teaching reform in China.

With the fast pace of the contemporary life，people in the modern times are facing all kinds of pressures.Workers fear that they will be laid off when there is an economic recession.Farmers are afraid that flood or drought will prevent them from getting a bumper harvest.Here I should like to make a special mention of students.Primary school students have their pressures.If they cannot be enrolled to a key high school，their parents will feel disappointed.High school students also live under pressures.Their parents hope that they can go to universities so that they can find a satisfactory job after graduation.University students are no exceptions.During their university lives，they have to study hard and pass all the exams arranged by schools and government institutious.Otherwise，they can't get their diplomas.Students without diplomas can hardly find their jobs.
As far as I am concerned，living in this world is by no means an easy thing.I have to work hard and earn enough money to support my jobless parents，jobless wife and daughter.So to speak，I am a member of the sandwich generation.But I am not afraid of pressure whenever I meet with it.Now I who have a good state of mind have become accustomed to pressures，which is to me the driving force rather than the disincentive to my career development.

Is University Expansion a Good Thing？
Many colleges and universities have expanded their enrollment since 1998.There are several reasonable advantages for the expansion.Firstly，this can keep up with the needof the job market to produce more qualified people to take up the jobs.Secondly，the expansion has entitled many high school graduates to the right of receiving higher education.Last but not least，it can raise the intellectual standards of our nation.
However，studies show that the trend to expand has brought about many concerns for other people.For instance，the teaching facilities and accommodation capacities of many colleges and universities are limited and are unable to meet the demand of an ever-increasing number of the newly enrolled students.On the other hand，the average quality of the freshmen is declining.In the long run，hunting for a job will be a tough thing for the graduates and that will inevitably exert much pressure on the prospects of employment.
In spite of all these，I am still confident that the expansion of enrollment is of great benefit to our society and is a good thing.With the development of our national economy，the problem as is mentioned above will be solved if proper measures are taken.

On Food Security
Over the past couple of years，several cases of food scandals have been disclosed on various media.The problem of food security has become a hot topic in modern society.The prevalence of food insecurity has greatly threatened public health，which the government could not afford to ignore.
There are a couple of driving forces，I would argue，behind this undesirable food crisis.First，in the course of rapid economic evolution，we ignore moral education，giving rise to various problems on food.Second，the lack of adequate regulation and punishment on those illegal producers enforces the trend.
Prompt and strict measures should be taken to turn back this evil trend.The government should launch a massive moral campaign to educate all citizens and draw up tough laws to crack down those irresponsible corporations and prohibit them from entering the food industry again.
I am firmly convinced that through our combined efforts we are bound to enjoy more risk-free foods in the days ahead.
