How I Learned to Learn English
The first few days when I entered high school, I could not follow my English teacher because she spoke too fast. And I could not understand some new words in her sentences. However, I was too shy to ask her questions because of my poor pronunciation. So I just hid behind my textbook and never said anything in class.
Luckily, my new desk-mate saved me by giving me some suggestions. He told me that I could watch some English cartoon movies, like King Lion, Frozen, and Kung Fu Panda. So I had a try. Although I could not understand everything the characters said, their body language and the expressions on their faces helped me to get the meaning. I also realised I could get the meaning by firstly knowing the key words. My pronunciation was improved as well, because I tried to listen and read after some interesting conversations in those cartoons.
Now, I am active in English class and always speak English confidently.

Last term, I didn’t like my English class at all. You know, the teacher spoke too fast for me to follow. I was afraid to ask questions because of my poor pronunciation. So I just hid behind my textbook and never said anything in class.
Then one day, I watched an animated movie in English called Beauty and the Beast. I fell in love with this moving and exciting film! So I began to watch other English-language films as well. Although I could not understand everything the characters said, their body language and facial expressions helped me to get the meaning. I also realised that I could get the meaning by listening for just the key words. My pronunciation also improved after keeping on listening to the interesting conversations in English-language films. In addition, I learned some useful idioms like “I can eat like a horse” or “No sweat” with the help of the dictionary.
Now I am active in class and really enjoy my English lessons.
