I used to write the new words and expressions in my vocabulary notebook and copy each of them for seven to eight times. By doing this, I could remember them for a short while and improve my handwriting.
However, copying without understanding or copying without recycling is useless. What’s more, my teacher told me that using mind-maps or other ways to group new words could memorise them better and faster. For example, I could draw a bubble map to summarise many words beginning with -en, or put all the words about means of transportation or weather into a word cloud. Many apps are available online to make those visual tools.
For vocabulary learning, now I believe that “Use it, or I’ll lose it!”
