111.四个“在……下面”。under，below，beneath，underneath
（1）under：在……下面；在……表面下。普通用词，与over相对，指在某物的正下方，含垂直在下的意思。如：
There is a football under the desk.
桌子下面有个足球。
（2）below：在下面，在较低处；在……下面。指位置低于某物或在某物下方，但不一定在正下方，所指范围较广。如：
Did you see the boat below the bridge?
你看见位于桥下游那边的船吗？
（3）beneath：在……之下；在下方，在底下。书面用词，指紧挨……之下，其反义词是on。如：(https://www.daowen.com)
The earth lay beneath a blanket of snow.
大地被厚厚的白雪覆盖。
（4）underneath：在……底下；下面的，底层的；下面，底部。书面口语均用，也常与beneath和under换用，更含遮蔽的意味。如：
The old mine goes right underneath the city.
老矿井恰好就在城市的下面。
