The exact age of the ancient pagoda cannot be known.According to the early records in the Annals of Wucheng County (Raoyangdian originally belonged to Wucheng and to Gucheng County in 1964) and Annals of Gucheng County,Pagoda of Qinglin Temple was a building of the Tang Dynasty.Professor Zhang Yuhuan of the Chinese Academy of Sciences made a field investigation on Pagoda of Qinglin Temple and determined that it was built in the early Northern Song Dynasty according to its architectural style and characteristics. In the list of the sixth batch of major historical and cultural sites protected at the national level, this pagoda is also designated as a tower of the Song Dynasty.Pagoda of Qinglin Temple is about 30m high, with an octagonal shape and seven floors. It is a brick pagoda with a pavilion form. The pagoda body gradually shrinks upward, and the tower top is a metal spire. The pagoda was repaired twice in 1957 and 1976,respectively.At present, the structure of the pagoda is still rigid and perfect, but many eaves have been damaged.Ancient pagodas are precious heritages left by our ancestors and cannot be regenerated.Earthquakes, floods and other natural disasters may destroy ancient pagodas at any time. Therefore, each ancient pagoda is worth our care.
