The headquarters of the 129th Division in She County is a patriotism education base and a major historical and cultural site protected at the national level. It is composed of several adjacent courtyards built on the mountains. The lower courtyard is the office of the command,with the north room the conference room,the west room the office of Liu Bocheng,the east room the guard room,and the south room the administration office. The lilacs and zinnias in the courtyard were planted by Liu Bocheng and Deng Xiaoping. During the Counter-Japanese War,Liu Bocheng,Deng Xiaoping,Xu Xiangqian,Li Da,Huang Zhen and other proletarian revolutionaries fought and lived here for nearly six years,making She County a strategic rear in the war in North China. This land cultivated Deng Xiaoping,the chief architect of China's reform and opening up,two marshals,three generals,18 admirals,48 lieutenant generals,295 major generals. Nearly 100 senior leaders of the 129th Division served important positions in the party and the state. Therefore,She County is known as “the birthplace of China's second generation leadership.”
