7.2.4 Pin Puller

1.Structure and Function of Pin Puller

The pin puller is also called pin-pulling plier.Its jaw is hollow,and other parts are similar to wire pullers.Its function is mainly to remove the spring pin of insulator in line work.

2.Basic Types of Pin Puller

The pin puller can be divided into two types:non-live and live.Most of the power outages are hand-held,with two types,ordinary and"Z".For live working,there are two main types:hand-held and insulated operating rod.Hand-held type is the same as reimbursement pliers used during power failure.Insulated operating rod includes two types:linear pin puller and tension pin puller.Fig.7-26 shows several common pin pullers.

3.Inspection of Pin Puller Before Use

(1)Before using the tension-resistant and linear insulator pin puller,check whether the jaw is deformed,worn,closed completely and whether the adjusting screw of the plier handle is loose.

(2)For hand-held pin puller,check whether the jaw is deformed,worn,and whether the insulation sheath is cracked and aged.

4.Usage of Pin Puller(https://www.daowen.com)

(1)Strain and linear insulator pin-pulling plier must be matched with insulating operating rods when in use.Insulating bar shall be matched with insulating operating rods of the same voltage grade.

(2)Strain and linear insulator pin-pulling plier is suitable for the ground potential operation method for live working of power transmission lines.When strain and linear insulator pin-pulling plier is used at ground potential,the operation of insulating rod must be smooth and fast.Fig.7-27 shows the operation of replacing the single-sheet strain insulator with strain insulator pin-pulling plier on live line.

5.Precautions for Storage of Pin Puller

Pin pullers shall be stored in a dry and well-ventilated tool warehouse,and placed on shelves at fixed points.As shown in Fig.7-28 for pin puller storage.

6.Preventive Test of Pin Puller

Preventive test of strain and linear insulator pin puller is mainly appearance inspection insulation rod preventive test,and preventive test of insulation rod is mainly power frequency withstand voltage test;the preventive test of hand-held pin puller mainly includes appearance inspection and power frequency withstand voltage test of insulated handle.The test cycle is 1 year.
