7.2.6 Gear Type Bolt Clipper
There are variable cable bolt clipper used for live working of transmission and distribution line.Here will only introduce the portable gear type bolt clipper for personal use.
1.Structure and Function of Gear Type Bolt Clipper
The gear type bolt clipper is mainly used to cut the cables,including the steel-cored aluminum stranded conductor,steel strand and insulated conductor.The LK-300B gear type bolt clipper manufactured in Taiwan consists of the insulated handle,moving blade,fixed blade,cover plate,retaining knob and other parts,as shown in Fig.7-33.

2.Model and Technical Parameters of Gear Type Bolt Clipper
The gear type bolt clipper may be manufactured in USA,Japan and China,while the type and technical parameters for two types of gear type bolt clippers manufactured in USA is introduced in the Table 7-6.The RCC-325 type and RCC-500 type gear type bolt clippers are as shown in Table 7-34.

3.Inspection Before the Use of Gear Type Bolt Clipper(https://www.daowen.com)
(1)Before use,please check whether the gear cutting edge of the bolt clipper is damaged and whether the bolts at each part becomes loose.
(2)Before use,please check whether the two blades are misplaced or cannot be closed,causing the cutting difficulty.If such situation occurs,it may be solved by adjust the corresponding bolts.
(3)Please check whether the rotation part for the gear of the bolt clipper is flexible.If the rotation difficulty occurs,please timely add the oil at the gear part for lubrication purpose.
(4)Please check whether the insulated handle of the bolt clipper is broken and whether there is any crack and aging.If such situation occurs to the insulated handle,it's better not to use it.
4.Use Method of Gear Type Bolt Clipper
(1)The over-range and over-load use is strictly prohibited.The gear type bolt clipper has its special rated strength.Upon use,please properly select the type and specification as per the actual demand.The substitution of the small articles to the large articles,and the cutting of articles of which the hardness is greater than that of the blade-edge of the bolt clipper,are strictly prohibited,so as to prevent from causing the tipping or turning of the blade.
(2)Please don't consider it as the ordinary steel tools and instruments,and replace other tools and instruments.
(3)Before cutting,please place the retaining knob at the use position,adjust the cutting edge as per diameter of conductor to be cut,and turn the gear by pressing and releasing the insulated handle,so as to gradually close the fixed blade and moving blade.
(4)After use,please adjust the closed moving blade and fixed blade to the open status,and timely remove the mud and other foreign matters contained in the spring and tooth space.
5.Precautions for Storage of Gear Type Bolt Clipper
The gear type bolt clipper shall be kept in a dry and well-ventilated tools and instruments warehouse,stored in a special tools and instruments box and placed at the fixed point of the shelf.
6.Preventive Test of Gear Type Bolt Clipper
The preventive test of gear type bolt clipper includes the visual examination and the power frequency withstand voltage test of insulation part,and the test cycle is 1 year.
